Humpty dumpty sat on a wall.. humpty dumpty had a great fall..

The person who wrote the poem humpty dumpty sat on a wall on reading this is surely going to ask  me for royalty J
My bacha loves this rhyme like anything and therefor her maa uses it as a blackmail tool ( I don’t know bacha how will u take to this when u r more mature to understand how we used to make you do things by singing this rhyme!!).When she refuses food, Devaangi closes her mouth firmly and starts moving her head away from the spoonful of food , just like a pendulum. All I have to do now is to start singing humpty dumpty sat on a wall, humpty dumpty had a great fall, and even before I reach any further my bacha smilingly opens her mouth to eat her food!!! The food she was refusing seconds ago is now eaten by her with lesser fuss. This is called generation next..
Well humpty dumpty is not the only rhyme used to feed bacha or make her laugh when she’s hurt or is crying yet it tops the chart. There are others too.
These are 2 little Dixie birds ., chi chi karti aayi chidya, jhoote maiya machiya khilaayea, and the latest to be added to the bandwagon is jack and jill went up the hill…. Listening to any of these rhymes simply lights up Devaangi’s face and she is all smiles J

Maa I can stand holding my cot!!!

Keeping up with the latest developments of Devaangi!!
Since last week Devaangi is able to stand on her little feet provided she has something to hold on to.  The something to hold on to was typically maa, daadi yaa dadaji ke haath. However Devaangi has a new support to hold and it is the side bars of her very own cot. I had loads of paperwork to finish over the weekend. As generally on weekends and other times when I am at home, Devaangi is mostly with me and so was the case last saturday. With Devaangi around one can forget having paper around as my baccha is sooo found of paper of any sort that she picks it up and tears it to bits and pieces. Since Devaangi was in no mood to sleep so I tries to make her sit in her cot with the toys. The bacha immediately protested as she realized that maa is going to leave her alone. I then made Devaangi stand while making her hold the sides of the cot. Devaangi was still protesting when I started playing with her by hiding my face behind her snake and then appearing again. Slowly while enjoying this game of hide and seek Devaangi held firmly to the sides of the cot and was able to balance on her feet. Phir kya tha I went back to the bed and started working while my darling bacha was standing firmly on her feet while letting out screams of joy and calling out to papa.
And since then bacha is enjoying standing in the cot. She sees herslf in the mirror opposite to where she stands, pulls her snake, bends to pick her toys, jumps , moves back and forth and lets out squeals of laughter. It is a delight to see the joy Devaangi basks into while standing and trying to move around. In fact she tries to move around in the cot in particular to pull the winne the pooh’s of her cot musical toy which has since then be removed to avoid accidents.
Great going bacha, at this rate you should soon be walking around!!!

oops... the khitchi is too hot!!! mera haat jal gaya!!!

aaj ki kahani Devaangi ki zubaani:
aaj raat dining table pe maa was having her cuppa tea and chit chatting with dadaji and daadimaa while i was sitting in maa's lap and playing with my toys... my khitchi was kept on the table for cooling before maa could feed me. maa had kept khitchi at fair distance from me.. par main to main hu!!! aur main kissi se kam nahi!!! maine table pe dekha to katori nazar aayi... wow the khitchi looked colorful and tempting.. i just wanted to put my hands in the katori and hold the khitchi. Phir kya tha maine haath aage badaya, maa ko laga i am trying to reach my squeeze toy, and within seconds mera haath garma garam khitchi ke andar tha!!!! maa ko kuch seconds tak realize hi nahi hua kya hua.. how CARELESS of HER!!woh bhool gayi unka bacha mastu singh hai... before i could let out a cry, daadi noticed what happened and shouted that mera haath khitchi mein hai. instantly maa pulled my hand out.. par tab tak der ho chuki thi aur mera haath red ho gaya tha.oooooh the khitchi was very hot!!! instantly daadi picked up the bottle of water and poured it over my hand. paani mere haath pe to gira hi aur saath saath mera aur maa ka bath bhi ho gaya :-) giggle giggle... garmi bahut ho rahi thi na... maza aa gaya.. lekin mujhe garam garam bhi bahut laga and i was crying all through.. by the time maa rushed me into the kitchen to put my hand under running tap water, i had forgotten all about burning my hand and while maa had put my burnt hand under running tap water i was busy trying to grab the utensils kept on the slab with my other hand... ab mera haath theek hai even the redness has gone!!!
see what a short lived memory i have for such incidences!!!
anyways a BIG LESSON for MAA.. never let loose of caution  when i am around....

Devaangi uttered her first letters and words

3 days back or rather to be precise on 13 apr my bachu got up  and started sitting on her own without any support … till now she was able to sit without support provided someone would make her sit and then leave her with her toys or anything else to hold and play. However for past 3 days, if she is lying, Devaangi has been struggling to get up and sit on her own and is able to manage this 4 out of 10 times.. u should see the efforts my baccha puts in while trying to get up .. hats off to you my darling.
Another thing that she has started is saying papa clearly. Devaangi had started speaking about 2 months back. She uttered her first words da da da  and ba ba ba on 5th feb and eventually added pa pa pa, ababa, abu, boo to the list.  Lekin  since last Friday (13th apr) she is nonstop going on clearly calling out papa papa.. wow!!! hubby will be too delighted to hear that.. the only hitch is that he is out of town and hasn’t heard his daughter calling out to him like that…  can’t wait to have hubby get back home and see his reaction when he hears  Devaangi go on saying papa papa!!!
Now waiting for the day when Devaangi says maa.

My daily rides in the stoller

Even before Devaangi arrived in this world we had started shopping for her... One of the first things that we bought for Devaangi was a set of stroller and car seat. Keeping in mind the fact that both I and hubby are found of going out, we had in our mind to buy a stroller in which we can take our baby out from birth till the time she is 4-5 years old. And when we set our eyes on the Graco stroller set woila it was what we had been looking for!!! Just perfect for our roaming ideas!!! With about 10 days remaining for Devaangi to arrive, we went ahead and made our major purchase for our darling.

Devaangi's stroller comes complete with a car seat that can be attached in the stroller to make her face the person pushing the stroller. Devaangi however goes around in her stroller without the car seat majority of times.

Both I and hubby need an excuse to take Devaangi out in her stroller in our society. On sunday afternoons when Devaangi is cranky and is not sleeping, hubby takes her out in the stroller and within minutes our cranky baby calms down and goes off to sleep.

shuru ke mahino mein the stroller was not used much as i was away to naana house most of the times as Devaangi's naana is not well. Par jub se we have come back to VK and the weather has changed now our bacha goes out every evening in her stroller. In fact one of the best part of having my office shifted to gurgaon is that i m back home on time to take Devaangi out for a stroll and that's when her stroller is put to use.
Roz shaam aati hai aur hamari nanhi pari apni maa ke saath stroller mein choomne jaati hai... this routine has been on for past one week. In initial months Devaangi would be taken out with the stroller seat set to the sleeping position. But now we have set it to the sitting mode and strap Devaangi in her stroller. You must see how Devaangi sits bending forward in fact as much forward as the straps allow her to move forward.
Our alert bacha looks right and left, up and down and all around while maa pushes her stroller within the colony. All through the evening stroll, bachu keeps saying pa pa pa pa and calls out to maa and responds to people she meets on the road.. In fact i did not as many people in the colony in past 7 years and i know in last 10 days.. All thanks to our cute little baby... our sweetheart who has already started making hearts stop with her smile!!!!!!
People of all age group stop and say hello to our little baby who too responds with her smiles and laughter to them :-)
Together with the hearts of all people we meet on our walk, my heart too goes out for you my darling daughter. i love you and look forward to taking you out for these daily strolls......

Family Parampara must be followed

I remember watching a movie where the hero says he wants to go to a particular college  because it was the family tradition. he says parampara dad parampara dadaji gaye, aap gaye bhaiya gaya ab main jaonga...
Something similar to that has happened at our home as well.. NO i m not talking about Devaangi going to a particular college or school because everyone in the family went there.. she is too young for that..

I however am talking about Devaangi's cot. Sleeping in that cot has become a way of family tradition. Devaangi's Poonam bua was the first one to sleep in it, then papa's turn came, next to use it was papa's cousin yaani Anu bua. Phir aayi next generation yaani pyaareAditya bhaiya ki baari and now following the suit is  Devaangi!!

Yes Devaangi sleeps in her own cot which has been lovingly decorated with her toys by her papa dear..
Hubby is so found of his daughter that wherever he goes, he is always on lookout for toys for his bachu's cot.
The cot is full of Devangi's toys that occupy half the cot and at times one needs to look hard into the cot to find bachu sleeping amidst her soft toys!!!!

The best part is that you make Devaangi sleep in a particular position and come some time later on to find that she has turned 90 degrees to 180 degrees and at times even more...
i m sure Devaangi you enjoy being in the cot with all your toys.. i atleast enjoy seeing you sleep so peacefully in a different posture each time.
Waiting for the day when Devaangi stands holding the side bars of the cot!!!!

Devaangi's eating sessions

Continuing in the Present>>>>>>>>
We started giving food to Devaangi from the time she turned 5 months old.  Her first food was cerelac rice flavor. Devaangi had her first meal right after her visit to doctor uncle Raghu. She simultaneously also started having fresh soup. Semi solid food in the form of khitchri, dalia etc started when Devaangi turned 6 months old. It was also the time when we started with a new flavor of cerelac -wheat with apple. But similar to the rice flavor cerelac experience, Devaangi did not take to the new flavor of cerelac. Cerelac eating sessions with Devaangi do not last long as she doesn't eat more than half a katori  and that too after lots of face making, turning face away and cajoling.
Devaangi however has taken a liking for namkeen food. Touchwood!!! Devaangi enjoys eating khitchri. We try and give her a variety in the form of dalia- dal khitchri on one day and chawal dal khitchri the next day. Devaangi has a booster seat that we have fixed on the dining table chair. So just like us adults at home bachu too has a fixed seat on the dining table :-) and it is on her table chair that bachu has her meals along with her toys of course.

photo below was taken on 8th mar 2012 d very first time Devaangi sat on her booster chair and had her dinner..

Daily i make a namkeen item and a milk item for bachu before leaving for office. The milk items are typically sweet ones like dalia or oats, or suji doodh or custard which i invariably end up eating as my  bachu does not enjoy sweet food... Imagine !!! that's a typical non mehra trait as we mehras simply love meetha....
my  dear bachu i hope u start enjoying meetha as much as the rest of the family does...
br />one meetha thing that my bacha enjoys is banana which we started giving to her from 1st Apr. bachu really relishes mashed banana but u give her any other fruit like apple and see her turning her face away !!!
so much like her papa..

Devaangi is very fussy about her eating... if she is hungry and you give gaps between her spoonful’s, she becomes restless and starts making noise to make u realize that u need to concentrate on feeding her and not talking around...
in between her spoonfuls she looks at dadaji and badi daadi, calls out to them ..(hamari bitiya bahut zoor se awaaz lagati hai...) waits for their acknowledgement as though they approve of her eating, smiles and merrily eats her food...

but try feeding her when her tummy is full... bachu surely knows how to say NO ( a trait maa needs to learn!!) She turns her face away and point blankly refuses to open her mouth. aap lage raho par bachu tas se mas nahi hoti hai....  on top of that she's start protesting by making noises...
bachu also enjoys tit bits from others food. she likes chaatofying honey from dadaji's fingers, sharing tea from papa's and dadaji's cup, eating aalu and other sabji from daadi's plate, marie biscuits from maa, rusk and bread from dadaji and maa, curd from nani and yes last but not the least kada prasad at bade mandir...
woh bacha jo meethi cheeze ghar be nahi khaata hai  eats kada prasad halwa at bade mandir like anything... we stop feeding her kada after some time as it is rich in ghee but my bachu can go on and on eating kada.. that's indeed Guruji's kripa on her... aur kyon naa ho after all Devaangi hai to Guruji ki blessings to us...
well i need to rush now as my bacha is hungry and her khitchri is waiting for her on the table... bachu has started protesting now….

Devaangi has started clapping!!!

fast forward to the present>>>>
on 8th Apr i.e. just 2 days ago Devaangi clapped for the first time and hasn't stopped eversince.
Devaangi came back from naani house and was meeting badi daadi when she suddenly started clapping her hands on her own.
This kanjake i had brought molis with ghoongrus for girls and had tied one on puchu's hands as well!!! oops i forgot one important thing... Before u start wondering who Puchu is (i m sure u must have anyways guessed by now)Time to introduce one of many nicknames of Devaangi!!!! Devaangi is fondly called puchu by maa and daadi..
sorry for the break in between... let me continue from where i deviated... so yes repeating again: This kanjake i had brought molis with ghoongroos for girls and had tied one on puchu's hands as well!!!  when puchu claps her hands one can hear the melodious sound of ghoongrus. i guess she has still not realized that the sound comes when she claps her hands and also she doesn't seem to have taken to the sound of ghoongrus as much as i thought she would else she would have continued to clap nonstop...but yes moment she sees some one clapping she starts clapping as well... kal raat to both daadi and poti were clapping when puchu stopped clapping her hands and held daadi's hand to clap :) whjat fun it was to try and make puchu leave daadi's hands and clap with her own hands which she never wanted to do!!!

Introduction- Devaangi's Arrival in this world

Having started so late to record Devaangi's growing months, i have so much to write that do not know from where to start. so i'll try and do the simplest thing...i'll start with an introduction of Devaangi, some details about her birth and the fast forward to the present...  while recording her magical moments of present i'll gradually add tit bits from the past few months as well......
so here we go......
Devaangi was expected on 24th Aug 2011. She however choose to give us  surprise and arrived early on 18th Aug.. a day engraved in my memory forever... the day Devaangi came in this world and made me a MOM!!! the whole experience of bringing Devaangi in this world has been so wonderful thanks to the people around me.... we'll have more about those 9 months in the posts that will follow.
Going back to 18trh Aug 2011, we were supposed to reach the hospital at 7:30 am. however we left home close to 730 :-) as usual and managed to reach hospital by 7:45. It was a planned caesarian and i was to be rolled into the OT at 9am. Chetan drove me to the hospital Fortis La Femme GK and maa and papaji followed us there. My parents had already reached the hospital..
i am a little finicky about the number 9. When the doctor asked us the previous day whether i wanted to deliver the baby on 18 or 19th Aug, I opted for 18th as it totaled to the number 9. In the hospital also during admission there were 3 vacant rooms out of which one was room no. 108. while the receptionist was trying to figure out the room to be allocated to me, i was secretly hoping it to be 108 and that was precisely the room that was allocated to me. God has his strange ways of listening to me...
The next one hour went in preparing me for the operation with hubby clicking photos n recording baby's heart beat..
I was rolled into the OT at 9am with hubby besides me...our daughter came few minutes past 9:30 while her parents were holding hands and were waiting to hear her first cry....
the moment we first set our eyes on our bundle of joy we realized that our world had changed forever from that moment onwards...
hubby went out to inform every one of the baby's arrival while i was being cleaned up and stitched. the baby in the meantime was moved to the nursery for routine checks and that was where her grand moms saw her for the first time with daadi being able to see the thick mass of hair on the back of baby's head first... Daadi's first reaction was baby has good amount of hair!!!
by the time i was rolled back into the room my little princess was there to welcome MOM...even before Devaangi was brought and placed next to me (i couldn't hold her for couple of hours due to anesthesia effect) comparisons about who she resembled has started...
the first person outside the family to be informed about Devaangi's arrival was kopal shukla who had called me up from office to discuss a presales that were working on before i went on leave.....
we used the following sms to announce of Devaangi's arrival
Tiny pink nose,10 tiny toes. Guruji's little angel is here, making ever moment dear...With Guruji's grace we gratefully announce the birth of our little daughter.
Devaangi was a cute little baby who did not make too much noise in the hospital nor did she gave me sleepless nights there... actually the credit for that also goes to the nursing staff of fortis who were always there to take care of the baby and also guided me to hold and feed the baby....
we stayed in the hospital for 2 days and were discharged on 20th Aug which was a Saturday...
Devaangi came home with dadaji and daadiji while her parents and naanu and naani followed in their cars.
Devaangi was welcomed at home by badi daadi..... her naanu n naani spent some time before leaving for their place..
Devaangi went for her first outing the same evening with mom dad n daadi to Guruji's bade mandir to seek his blessings!!!

This blog is all about the apple of our eyes -our little daughter Devaangi...

Devaangi means like a goddess and true to the meaning of her name she is actually God's gift to us who has totally transformed our lives!!!
This blog is all about the little things that Devaangi does, her talks, plays, activities and pranks....
