catchup times

Main bal hanuma hoon
Devaangi is becoming naughtier by the day. So much is the increase in the degree of naughtiness that her papa has named her bal hanuman. Devaangi loves this name of her. Ask her “ Ram ji ne Devaangi ka kya naam rakha hai “ and the prompt reply that comes from Devaangi is “bal hanuman”.
So much is her fascination with this name that at times you will hear Devaangi saying things like “nani bal hanuma aapke paas aaya hai. Isse utha lo”, “mummy ka bal hanuman”, “bal hanuman ko doodu do” and so on.

Mujhe bhi dar  lagta hai
Devaangi has virtually no fear. She is a mast mauji who loves to do things her way and there is no way you can control her pranks as who kisi bhi cheez se nahi darti hai!!! I don’t know how correct or wrong it is scare the child but we had to find something to install some fear in her to stop her pranks (going beyond a limit) or wrong doings.

We found that fear factor in a particular hanumanji’s picture (to which we refer as lal mooh waale chaar dande waale hanuman).

The most surprising element here is the fact that though she recognizes every photo of hanuman ji  and refers to it as bade hanuman yet there is one particular picture of hanumanji(in the desk calendar of chattarpur mandir)  that we have of which she is scared a lot.

When she refuses to sleep even late at night and is continuing with her pranks all you have to tell is “Devaangi lal mooh waale hanuman ji aa rahe hai”. Bus see the instant transformation then - Devaangi will immediately close her eyes and even cover them up with palms of her hands as well and try hard to sleep. The most surprising element is that within minutes she’ll sleep as well.

The same reaction also applies when Devaangi is doing other pranks which she stops immediately on us referring to lal mooh waale hanuman.

Another thing that Devaangi is scared of is the fear of being left outside the house especially when it is dark.

Devaangi’s dadi was always against us (dada, maa and papa) for scolding Devaangi or us putting a stop to her pranks by scolding her. Devaangi’s dada and papa are of the opinion that from the formative years onwards a child needs to be disciplined to some extent at least so that he/she at least begins to understand the difference between right and wrong else it becomes very difficult to control that child later on. This we have learnt from examples at home. One day while Devaangi was with daadi and was being very naughty and not willing to listen to daadi, daadi took Devaangi out of house and told her that she will leave Devaangi outside. I don’t know what happened but something triggered a fear in Devaangi against being left outside the house. For someone who is so fond of going out that it is difficult to being Devaangi in the house, moment you tell her “devaangi ghar ke bahar chodh doo” she gets scared and stops her pranks.

Devaangi at nani house
After the arrival of devaangi’s little sister, the three of us, me, devaangi and shivaangi have come to stay at nani house for some time. The same devaangi who used to be crazy about dadi at dadi house has changed sides and is now nani’s pet. I always thought that she used to take dadi for granted but that is a modest statement as compared to what devaangi does with nani.

For her nani is no more than a friend of her age. She bites nani, pulls her hair, doesn’t let nani eat her food (pata nahi kya hai moment nani sits to have her food, devaagi’s pulls nani’s plate and says” nani nahi khaayegi yeah mummy ki plate hai”), gets onto nani’s lap and refuses to get down.

The best scene was a few days back when I went into the bathroom to find nani sitting down and washing a few clothes and devaangi sitting on nani’s lap just like a Bandar ka bacha!!!!

My religious bacha
There are 2 temples close to nani house: one is jai maa mandir(Shakti durga mandir) and another one is sai baba mandir. Throughout the day devaangi’s demand is to be taken to sai baba mandir. Bus all she has to do is get onto nani’s lap and start off “ nani sai mandir jaana hai”.

My bacha is truly religious. She can recognize a no. of gods, loves to do matha teeko  and jai jai  in front of gods, recognize and sing aarti’s like om jai jagdish hare, jai ambe gauri, om jai shiv onkara, guruji’s mantra jaap. She loves to join daadi in her daily prayers and one must see how devaangi imitates dadi in doing aarti. She moves her palms in such a manner that you can feel as though she has a diya kept on her palms and is doing arti with it.

The true religious nature of bacha comes out at bade madir and sai mandir. You must see bacha at bade mandir doing dandwat pranaam to Guruji and matha teekna to all idols and guruji’s pictures and his Samadhi. I think these things come from within and no one can teach bachu these. No wonder every one says that bachu is indeed guruji’s bacha.

Earlier devaangi never used to let anyone put tikka on her forehead. Last month there was a satsang at a friends place where she was with dadaji when they were  putting tikka on everyone’s forehead. Devaangi allowed them to put tikka on her forehead and starting thereon she likes to have tikka put on her forehead everyday while sitting in pooja or at mandir.

Some tit bits from bachu’s converions

Bachu: mummy nani house jaana hai

Me: nani hourse  kyon jaana hai?

Bachu: nani house sai baba mandir jaana hai (whenever bachu is at nani house, nani takes her to sai baba mandir)

Bachu: puchu ne bangle pehna hai

Me: acha puchu ne bangle pehna hai

Bachu: haan !! dadi ne puchu ko bangle pehnaya

Dadaji: nahi switch ko touch nahi karna hai. Mana kiya hai na (when bachu is trying to switch on an electric point)

Bachu: smiles and says: to band kar doon (she she’ll promptly switch off the elctric point that she had switeched on)

Pranaam dadaji

Bachu has learnt to be so diplomat since the beginning that we at times wonder from where has she picked it up (none in our family are diplomatic). Bachu knows how to move from calling dada to dadaji to daadu depending on dadaji’s mood. Though she uses the same rules with others as well but the person to whom bachu maska’s the most is dadaji. If dadaji doesn’t let her have her way even after the transition form dada to dadu the  the ultimate maska is to bend down and touch dadaji’s feet and hug him or do sakshaat pranaam. Phir to there is no way that dadaji will say no to bachu for any thing.

brush my teeth

Oh I'm brushing my teeth on top,
it's so much fun I hate to stop,
but while I'm brushing my teeth
and having so much fun,
I never let the water run.
No I never let the water run.

Devaangi loves to brush her teeth. About 2 months back we brought the first set of tooth brush and tooth paste for Devaangi. We wanted to get Devaangi into a habit of brushing her teeth. After initial reluctance that lasted a few days to a few weeks, bachu has been so much taken up by the whole brushing ritual and in addition to her 4 tooth brushes, Devaangi can also be found picking up and using daadi’s 2 brushes as well as mom’s brush. Phir kya hai every morning maa and dadi have to hunt for their respective  toothbrush!!!

The teeth brushing activity starts when bachu wakes up in the morning and then continues throughout the day. The first brushing session of the day starts with tooth paste on the brush which bachu swallows without any delay or lingering. The brushing sessions of the rest of the day happen with plain brush in bachu’s mouth and saliva dripping out!!!!

Ab to bachu’s standard line on entering the bathroom is bash chahiye (I want the brush)

I love biting

Bachu has been biting a lot now a days… The most common victim is daadi followed by the maid and then me. All you have to do is either annoy bachu or don’t pay attention to her. Bachu simply will come and bite you. She gets some sort of thrill by biting and you must see the joy on her face when bachu bites some one!!! Looks like she is teething at present!!!

Lakdri ki kaathi

Devaangi is growing listening of english rhymes- the common ones that we were taught as a kid. These include baba black sheep, jhony jhony yes papa, row row row your boat, wee wiley winkey, jingle bells and so on… of all these one particular rhyme becomes favorite of bachu at a given point of time and then for days together till the time this fascination lasts bachu not only keeps humming the rhymn herself but also asks others to sing out that rhyme to her.

I remember when the fascination for jingle bells was on; bachu used to consider mom and dad as request station and would turn from one to another asking us to sing jingle bells to her. Then came a time for Guruji’s mantra jap followed by om jai jagdish hare… aajkal she is oscillating between nani teri morni ko mor le gaye and lakri ki kaathi (this one is her all time fav)

The best are the prompts or the clues that bachu gives us in between for reciting the rhymes. For example she’ll say “mummy ghoda pahucha chauk mein”. This means that start from this stanza and sing the rest of the song to her!!!

So far we have tried to ensure that bachu doesn’t watch too much TV. We however introduced her to watching nursery rhymes on computer. So much is bachu’s fascination for watching lakdri ki kaathi’s video in particular is that day in and day out she can watch lakdri ki kaathi’s video. Not only this, she also knows it very well whom to approach for putting on this video. For example she goes only to me and her dadaji for putting on lakdri ki kaathi (she knows no one else will put on the video for her J ). You must hear her say “dadaji lakdri ki kaathi laga do please”. She says it so innocently and pleadingly ki bus poocho mat and won’t let go for dadaji’s legs till the time he doesn’t agree to put on bachu’s fav video ;-)

Morning Conversation

bachu associates red color with red light. Moment she sees red color anywhere she promptly points out to it and says red light.
Today morning's conversation:
I had taken out a red suit to wear today.
bachu picks up the red shirt and says "mummy red light kapre pehno"

Guruji ka bacha pyara puchu hamara

I haven’t seen a bigger devotee of Guruji than Devaangi. Such a small child and so much of devotion. I am not exaggerating but frankly speaking I don’t think I can also match Devaangi in this regard.

From the time Devaangi opens her eyes till the time she goes to bed bachu rattos Gurujis name. Aakh kholte hi bachu ko Guruji ka mandir dekhna hai!!! Aise her demands start!! In the evenings she is after daadaji to

Show her Guruji’s mandir. Jab tak daadaji apna computer on karke bachu ko Guruji ke mandir  nahi dikhate hain … bachu goes on and on repeatedly asking dadaji to show her Guruji’s pictures.

Not only this, whole day bachu goes on rattling ‘om namoh shivaaye shivji sada sahay. Om namoh shivaaye guruji saday sahay!!’ bachu is forever after daadi to show her Guruji’s calendar where she loves to browse through each month’s page spending time looking at Guruji’s picture on each of those pages. Another fascination that bachu has is to pick Guruji’s calendar and browse through each month pausing at each picture and pointing out the ones in which she feels Guruji is looking sundar.

Bachu can also identify the symbol of om wherever she sees it.

Bachu can also recognize Guruji’s mandir merely by looking at it.

Monkey in making

As it is increasingly becoming difficult for me to lift Devaangi while climbing the stairs( due to my present medical condition), bachu climbs up and down the stairs on her own while holding on to mom’s finger. She thoroughly enjoys doing the same. When we reach the landing to our home, bachu at times is still not satisfied with all the climbing done and wants to go to the next floor as well!!! Mumma upper jaana hai!!!!

It’s been months when bacha has learnt to get onto and down from the bed, sofas, dining chairs- no matter how high it is. If while trying to get down, her feet do not touch the floor, she holds tightly to the fabroc or the bedcover and slowly lowers herself down till she is able to reach safe grounds..

Aaj to daadaji was teaching bachu how to climb the grill of the dining room window. Bachu enjoyed the whole exercise a lot and soon was going up and down the grill with dadaji’s support.

At this rate she’ll soon be out in the children’s park getting up and down all slides and bars and jungle gyms..

Love for chocolates and toffees

Despite our trying to control tightly the amount of toffees and chocolates that bachu gets to eat, the people at daycare ensure that Devaangi has a fair share of these to an extent that bachu can differentiate between a chocolate and toffee. Moment she spots a toffee or a chocolate, Devaangi promptly starts demanding the same- toffee chaahiye and if required throw tantrums as well. Devaangi realized that the rationed toffees given to her were kept at a particular place. Whenever she wants to eat toffees she goes straight to that particular cupboard where toffees are kept and demands that the cup… In the board be opened and toffees given to her!! Aaj to hadh hi ho gayi while I was going to drop her in the car at the daycare, I opened the glovebox to take out my sunglasses. Phir kyat ha bachu spotted a pack of orange toffees in the glove box and demanded the same. I gave bachu a single toffee but eventually hand to hand over the complete sealed packet to her. When I went in the evening to pick up bachu, she sat in the car and promptly asked me to open the glove box and started searching for the pack of toffees which obviously were not there.

3 days back me and bachu were returning home after dropping dad at the Bikaner house and on our way I picked up 2 chocolates- one for bachu and another one for me. I gave bachu one chocolate and opened the other one to eat the same. Bachu created so much hulla on seeing the second chocolate. The only way I could continue driving was after giving that second chocolate to bachu. Abhi se yeah haal hai to aage kya hoga especially when all 3 of us (ma, papa and bachu) are so fond of chocolate.

Talking continues

Bachu kept the keys on the table and very nicely asked me: chaabi kahan hai? When I repeated the same to her she very nicely said ‘room mein hai’. Likewise there are other sentences that bachu is trying to speak. The other day she tore some part of the govinda’s (tirupati balaji) calendar and since then whenever bachu remembers what she did, she says ‘puchu govinda faara’.

Moment we reach home and bachu spots the bell she starts off  bellbaja karna hai which means she wants to ring the bell.

On asking papa kahan hai her prompt reply when she is not able to spot papa around is either ‘papa offish (office) gaya’ or ‘room mein hai’.

This is how bachu is adding words to her vocabulary and trying her hands on speaking full sentences.

Catching up time- series 6

Maalish teil maalish
As the weather is changing , bachu’s  is enjoying her maalish and bath time more and more. All she has to do is spot the bottle of oil and with a lightning speed bachu gets hold of the oil bottle aur phir uska record shuru ho jaata hai—mumma teil maalish.. She is able to connect the oil bottle to the massage session that is going to follow.

Best was on last birthday me and bachu were at naani house. I was doing bachu’s teil maalish and in between was also attending phone calls that were coming nonstop. Somewhere in between probable bachu realized that maa is not able to do justice to the maalish so she took charge- poured some oil on her hands and tried to apply them on her legs and arms!!!!  Man that was a scene to witness especially the naughty smile on bachu’s face all the while she was trying to do her own teil maalish.

With the changing weather bachu is also enjoying her bath time with her bath toys and water. Bachu loves to hold the soap in hand and play with her duckies, fish, pigges and what not. She loves to play with the water in the mug or the bucket and doesn’t want to come out of the bathroom.

Another thing that bachu is fond of is washing her hands. Bachu needs and excuse to get into the bathroom and wash her hands.

Magical Moments with my bachu
Just as I am penning my magical moments with bachu, I am sitting on the bed with my back resting against the headstand; bachu is sitting right behind me, playing with the electric switches at the back. She is hugging maa, pulling my hair and also trying to bite my Head!! Yes you got it right bachu is trying to bite my head with her tiny teeth!!!. She is sitting on my tummy, holding my fingers and doing doom doom doom…. i.e. going back and forth and enjoying the swing. These are actually the moments I crave for- when bachu is in full mood to love maa and play with her- hugging me, kissing me, laughing uncontrollably, holding me tight and just be around me doing as much masti as she wants!!

I can talk talk and talk…

Bachu is a complete chatterbox. Now a days she babbles a lot as bachu is trying to speak complete sentences. Her vocabulary s increasing like anything with each passing day. Bachu is a poora rattu tota (parrot). She has to repat what you say to her.

Few things she says on her own:

Aapko kela khaana hai – when she wants to eat anything (replace Kela with the name of that thing)

Darwaza band – When she finds a closed door

Khul gaya- when bachu wants any bottle, container to be opened

Dudu peena hai- when bachu is hungry and wants milk

Mummy idhaar aao- she really orders maa around

Khaana lag gaya hai-calling out to every one for dinner

Plane gaya- on seeing a plane fly by

How r you

I am fine thank you

Jai guruji

Kicchi khaani hai

Iddi khanni hai

Aapey khaana hai – when she  wants to eat on her own

Bell baje no no – on anting to ring the door bell

No no

Nahi- for everthing that she wants tro say no for

Papa office- on asking where is papa

Baar jana hai- whenever she wants to go out

Walky walky karo- whenever she wants to go out

Aadi bhaiya  baat karni hai- on wanting to talk on phone

Chanda maama aaya

Sundar hai

Micchi hai

Paani chaahiye

Chahiye

Ghar aa gaya

Daadaji ghar aaye

Mummy ki caar

Papa ki caar

Ooo chaahiye

Upper jaana hai

Neeche jaana hai

Gatti baba moniya- ganpati bappa moray

Daadi paas jaana hai

Mataji ki sotti

Chota baby kahan hai

So ja

Dolly neeno aayi

…. And the list goes on……
In addition bachu can recite following poems: twinkle twinkle little star, jingle bell, johny johny yes papa, baba black sheep, row row row your boat, ladkri ki kaathi- all on her own and also including the jhoote maaiya machli khilaya, machli gayi paani lota padh ke laani, lota gaya pajh, puchu gayi raj!!

Bachu also knows gayatri mntra and guruji ka matra and can recite the same along with counting from 1-10(with minor mistakes and prompts of course)

I had composed the following lullaby for bachu

 Neeno raani aaja

Pucha ko sulaja

Pucha nino karegi

Mummy ke saath soyegi

Chanda mama aayega

Khoob khilone laayega

Dodh malai layega

Puchu ko khilayega

Pucha nino karegi

Mummy ke saath soyegi

Aaj ki date mein whenever puchu wants to sleep she says mummy “chanda mama” which means that I must sing out this lullaby to bachu. Till date I switch off the lights, hand over the milk bottle to bachu and tell her “ puchu chanda mama kehta hai dudu piyo” and guess what bachu takes to the bottle and falls asleep

Best is that bachu stared calling me and papa by our names. She calls out to chetan as che- taan and me as saati. With the passage of times bachu calls out to papa as papa only par with every passing day mummy is majorly being replaced by saati… Bachu simply orders me around- saati idhaar aao, saati dudu peena hai, saati aapko kela khaana hai and so on…… You should listen to the authority in bachu’s voice….
                                                                                                                                     To be continued...

My caring bacha
Couple of days while on our way back I told bacha “mamma kaa hand pain kar raha hai , isko pucha kar do”, and you won’t believe bacha gently caressed my hand at regular intervals till we reached home J

Not only this when at times I tell bacha ki mamma ko neenoo kara do, then bacha actually covers me with her blanket(mama rajai le lo) and pats me all the while saying ‘mamma so jao”. By the way on asking bacha to make any of her toys like her dolly, lion or doggie sleep, she does the same. More often than not bachu is all out to feed you instead of having stuff herself. She’ll pick up a grape and put it in our mouth and so on with other food articles.

One can also rely on bachu for some help at times. Once the dinner is served on the table, I ask bachu to go and call every one. Bachu promptly goes calling out to each one of us “daadaji khaana lag gaya hai” and so one to each person.

If bachu is in a mood she can also be relied upon for delivering stuff to people around. If you pick up say daadaji’s cell and ask bachu to give it to daadaji, bachu will go to daadaji , hand him over his phone and say daadaji aaka phone.

This Sunday I went to the balcony to put some clothes for drying and you know who help me in this chore- Devaangi. Ji haan Devaangi hkept handing meover all clothes one by one for putting them up for drying and also tried to carry the bucket back (Par kar naa saki J )

On asking bachu to keep a thing at a particular place or get a stuff she does that as well.

I am sure bachu is gonna help maa a lot when she grows up!!

Eating habits

Devaangi has really improved drastically in her eating habits. Earlier the bachu used to survive mostly on milk but now finally after about 7-8 months of persuasion she has finally started enjoying her food (though she’s still looks underweight!!!) Bachu now is able to identify different types of food and is also gradually building a liking and disliking for different food types.

She still doesn’t like to eat sweets. Papa nahi kahan se pata chal jaata hai that the food that we going to feed her is meetha . Bus bachu simply shuts her mouth and refuses to open it!!! It was a task to make her taste papa’s birthday cake!!
The ONLY exception are chaina murgi (though not that much) and khajoor. Bachu simply loves khajoor. Evey evening when we come back home, bachu and dada have a khajoor eating session. Even if dada has forgotten all about it, bachu will promptly walk to the drawer where khajoor is kept, take out khajoor and tell dada ‘khajul’ (that’s the way bachu spells it) khana hai!!!!

The most amazing part is that bachu is able to differentiate between chocolates and toffees. This is despite the fact that we try and control that bachu doesn’t get to eat chocolates and toffes much.

A few days back, our neighbour gave bachu half a laddoo of tirupati balaji Prasad and guess what jo bacha meetha nahi khaata hai usne woh  laddoo pura khatam kar diya !!!!

Bachu now willingly eats, roti, parantha(her fav being aaloo parantha), idli(which she pronounces as iddi)dal, bread, custard, doodh sooji, tamaatar (tomatoes), kheera, grapes, kela, apple and a few of the vegetables.

The best part is that she now tells you on her own that she wants to eat and also at times what she wants to eat and mostly if she’s able to see the stuff that she wants to eat say kela,  she’ll say “aapko kela khaana hai?" which means that she wants to eat kela!!

Another thing that bachu is or rather was fond of while daadi was away is soup. Bachu typically has her dinner in daadi’s lap. When daadi was away for a month in feb, bachu quickly decided to use daada  as replacement.
Phir kya tha since daadaji has soup for dinner so bachu also started having soup for dinner with daadaji. The only difference was that daadaji would have soup in his bowl and bachu would have her mini katori to have soup that would be regularly filled up by daadaji. Bachu would sit on the chair next to daadaji and while observing her table manners would have soup in proper manner except in between when she would try and have a spoon from daadaji’s bowl!!

Daadaji and Devaangi enjoying their soup session

Daadaji teaching Devaangi how to have soup from her bowl!

Devaangi wants to share daadaji's soup

Par jab se daadi is back, bachu is back to her usual self- all love for soup and table manners have gone for a toss.  Ab to wahi hota hai jo bachu wants after all daadi hai na pamper karne ke liye!!!

Bachu also prefers to eat on her own. This can be very messy at times especially on the dining table where she wants to put her spoon in every dish that is within her sight or reach!!!. If nothing else she’ll either push the plate right in front of her towards the bowls kept in the centre or make a grab at the spoons stand!!! Phir kya hai daadaji ka ultimatum aa jata hai ki Devaangi table pe nahi aayegi!!!

Devaangi is very fond of chatpatta khaana. Give her anything theekha and she'll enjoy having it all the while saying micchi ha along with running watery discharge from her nose!! Couple of days back someone got amritsari papads for us. Those of you who have had amritsari papad will know how teekhe (spicy) these papads are. Par bachu being bachu, had almost half a papad while alternating it with water!!! Despite our asking her to let go of the papad, bachu ne papad khaana nahi choda!!

Aur aaj to bachu had her share of samosa too which like all namkeen stuff she enjoyed including the hard crust!!!

I am sure naani and bachu will have a lovely time when bachu is little older enough to go and enjoy chaat papri with naani(poori naani pe gayi hai- chatpata khila lo par meetha nahi!!!)

Catching up time- series 2

Fascination for shoes

Till about a month back, bachu had a fascination for shoes, sandals and chappals(slippers) irrespective of ki woh kiske hain. Especially chappals joh kahin pe bhi dikh jaaye to bachu simply used to pick them up and take them to the right owner. I don’t know how but bachu manages to recognize everyone’s footwear. Like other stuff, you cannot take footwear of another person from bachu .  Bachu is also able to differentiate between a chappal, sandal and shoes. In fact if one is going out and tells bachu bahar jaana hai apne shoes leke aao. Bachu not only promptly picks up a pair of her shoes and bring to you but also sits patiently on your lap or the bed so that you can make her wear them.

Bachu also likes to step into papa and dada’s shoes and maa’s sandals and tries to roam around the house wearing the same!!

There is a pair of slip on Barbie shoes that bachu’s jas mausi brought for her. So much is the fascination for that pair that every time bachu spots it, she immediately brings it over and wants to wear the same.

However the thing that touched me the most was that bachu knows the right place for everyone’s shoes. Other day she picked up dadaji’s shoes and brought them out to the drawing room. When I asked her to and keep the shoes back in dadaji’s room she went and kept the shoes precisely at the place where dada keeps them every day!!!

Mataji ki soti

Leave aside her pranks and you’ll find a very caring bacha underneath all the sharaarats. Bachu knows that mataji (badi daadi) needs her soti (walking stick) to move around. Till the time mataji is sitting at a place, bachu moves around holding the soti in her hands all the while trying to imitate mataji’s walking style. Moment she realizes that mataji is about to get up or someone at hoem tells her ‘Devaangi mataji ko soti de do”, bachu promptly gets the soti(if it is not with her at that point of time) and hands it over to mataji.

The best is that moment she spots the soti she points out to it and says mataji ki soti!!!!. The only catch is that mataji gets worried that her guriya will take the soti and keep it somewhere out of reach and then mataji will be left highy and dry without her soti!!!

Eating habits

Devaangi has really improved drastically in her eating habits. Earlier the bachu used to survive mostly on milk but now finally after about 7-8 months of persuasion she has finally started enjoying her f0od (though she’s still looks underweight!!!) Bachu now is able to identify different types of food and is also gradually building a liking and disliking for different food types.

She still doesn’t like to eat sweets. Papa nahi kahan se pata chal jaata hai that the food that we going to feed her is meetha . bus bachu simply  shuts her mouth and refuses to open it!!! It was a task to make her taste papa’s birthday cake!!  The only exception are chaina murgi (though not that much ) and khajoor. Bachu simply loves khajoor. Evey evening when we come back home, bacu and dada have a khajoor eating session. Even if dada has forgotten all about it, bachu will promptly walk to the drawer where khajoor is kept, take out khajoor and tell dada ‘khajul’ (that’s the way bachu spells it) khana hai!!!!

Bachu now willingly eats, roti, parantha(her fav being aaloo parantha), dal, bread, custard, doodh sooji, grapes, kela, apple and a few of the vegetables. The best part is that she now tells you on her own that she wants to eat and mostly if she’s able to see the stuff that she wants to eat  say kela,  she’ll say “aapko kela khaana hai?’ which means that she wants to eat kela!!

Catching up time- series 1

Phew!!! I have really forgotten when was it last when I updated bachu’s blog. Lazy mom!! But things have been really hectic and somehow the blog update got hit the most. Never mind. In the series of the posts that will follow I’ll update on bachu’s growth , development and activities during these few months.

Since the last update, Devaangi has really become a mastu bacha. In fact I call her mama’s little monkey.

Bachu can’t sit quite even for a minute and can’t be left alone as well. Agar bacha is not in your sight and is very quiet then one can be very sure that she is up to some prank!

My love for kitchen

Bachu really likes to be in the kitchen when maa is working there. The most common pranks of bachu include entering the kitchen and throwing all plastic containers (‘dabbaas’ as bachu calls them) on the kitchen floor… As everyone in the house says dekho Devaangi mummy ki kitni help kar rahi hai by increasing mummy’s workload!!! Agar dabbaas nahi hote hain to bachu promptly opens the cabinets and takes out the oil jar and carries it around. Phir to bas dhoondte raho ki oil jar kahan hai?

Another most common target of bachu is the onion trolley that bachu pushes out of kitchen if there is no one around to stop her.

Zayaada rokoge to bachu will attack daadi’s tea tray kept on the tea trolley. Phir kya hai the down goes the milk pot (spilling the milk all around), the used tea bags and every other thing kept on it!!!! In case one manages to reach well in time the max you can prevent is the tea cup being broken into pieces.. By the way bachu is also mastering the act of breaking tea cups and saucers J

Papa dear bhi to peeche nahi hai from teaching Bachu pranks. If nothing else he gets bachu in the kitchen and makes her sit on the counter. Phir kya hai hamara bacha starts exploring the stuff kept on the counter and the cabinets above it. Depending on her mood (if she is angry) bachu simply throws stuff down on the floor!!!!
