my new pranks!!!

Devaangi keeps everyone at home on their toes.  You have your eyes off Devaangi for a minute and the very next minute you find that she is up to a new prank. Let devaangi find an open drawer (even a closed one will do) she opens it and while holding the drawer with one hand she keeps throwing out the things using the other hand. Phir to ma aka kaam shuru hota hai to put everything back in place J Other day I was sitting on dining chair and bacha held my hands and climbed on the chair using the bar  below the seat. She also gets up on the goodies trolley kept in the dining room. It is very risky for her to do so as agar bache ka haath choota or she loses her balance she will fall back and bang her head against the dining table. Likewise we have a heavy ganpati made of metal at home which is qute heave. Bacha tries to climb the table on which that ganpati is kept by using the statue as support. Sirf itna hi nahi there are no plug points or electric cords that are far away from bachu’s clutches. In fact we have already removed the cords from our TV in the room as bachu would tug at it’s cords and plugs. There are no paper or magazine within bacha’s reach that can be considered safe. All depends on bache’s mood ki who cheezo ko haath lagati hai ya nahi… actually hamara bacha bada daredevil hai who is not scared of doing anything- be it getting down form the bed or sofa(without support) or putting her hand in hot cuppa tea despite telling her that it is hot!!! Bachu already has to her credit one remote made non functional and maa’s broken phone J I m sure there are many more such broken items that are going to come..
When I ask puchu for a pucha she puts her lips on my cheeks as if kissing me, bacha also  jab pyaar ke mood mein hoti hai tab keeps on giving me kisses all over my face yaa tries to put me nose in her mouth. infact this has become a new game for pucha. Everytime is in mood to do laad to maa she brings her nose to mine with such a big smile that all 6 teeth of her are visible so instead of saying ki who batissi dikha ke hasti hai I’ll say who chey dikha ke hasti hai.. and then bacha goes on hugging maa dn doing nosey milli milli … I simply love such moments!!
Bacha has also learnt to give high five when you say give me five and also give flying kisses on being asked to do so.
At time we make bacha stand on the window in the dining room and she can stand there for a long time with someone holding her from the back(to prevent her from falling). Ek haath se bacha holds on to the grill and using the other hand she keeps opening and closing the window. Once there was a lady standing below and bacha started calling out to her mumma aaya….  Bacha also enjoys seeing bho bho(doggie), chidiya, mau billi and other babies and baiyas from the window and starts calling out to them once she spots them!!!

papa aaye..

Kal bacha was in full masti mood while having her dinner. She left the dinner in between and got down on the floor so that she could crawl around.  Bacha realized that papa was in the bathroom so she crawled to the bathroom door and started knocking the bathroom door whole calling out papa aaya, dadadada. When I want into the room, bacha started crying so I went to her and sat down on the floor to understand why was bacha crying. Bacha tugged at my shirt and while holding out to my shirt, she climbed on my legs and then taking advantage of the height gained in the process, madam ne darwaaze ka handle pakar liya and tried to open the door!!!! Itni piddi si bachi kaa dimag dekho… kaun sikhaata hai yeah sab!!!  When I put the bacha back on floor she again started crying and climbed on me again to reach out to the bathroom door’s handle and tried to open it while calling out to papa… papa aaye

haathi mera saathi

Bacha has started saying 2 new words: aati (haathi) and baiya (bhaiya). She recognized the elephant embroidered on daadi’s cushion and when you ask her puchu aathi kahan hai, bacha instantaneously points to the elephant on the cushion and says haati.
Another word that bacha keeps on saying throughout the day now a days is baiya. Now we are trying to teach her to say adi bhaiya.

mere pyaare papa

Devaangi goes on saying papa aaye and becomes excited on seeing papa. So much that she wants papa to take her in her arms and play with her when he comes back from office. In fact the other day when papa came back home, bacha became very excited and wanted to get into papa’s arms. Once in his arms, she did not want to let go of papa and when I held her so that papa could go to relieve himself, bacha started crying… imagine maa ke paas thi Devaangi and still  she was crying to go to papa. Well for once I did feel jealous!!! Even when bacha is in papa’s arms, and feels that papa is busy elsewhere she brings her face right in front of her dad’s face and gives him such a lovely smile .
If we are on the road and bacha sees any car passing by and papa is not with us she starts saying papa aaye.
Now a days bacha has changed her dinner routine. Till now she would sit either in my or in daadi’s lap to have dinner par for last 2-3 days bacha wants to have her dinner while sitting in papa’s lap (incase papa is on the table with us). If papa is not looking at bacha, the bacha tugs at papa’s sleeves to draw his attention!!! In fact last night papa was having wheat flakes and milk for dinner and bacha wanted to sit in her lap. She too took a spoon and started dipping it in pap’s bowl to eat the wheat flakes and milk just the way papa was eating !!! par bacha being bacha is still to learn to eat with spoon and she ended up splitting the milk on the table J
Another bonding time for papa and bacha is when the 2 of them sit and play with papa’s childhood cars. Yes papa still has his bachpan ki cars ka collection preserved (BTW he doesn’t let anyone touch it) and the only person allowed to touch and play (rather break) with those cars is bacha. Aur agar cars se nahi khel rahi hoti hai to bacha opens the 2 drawers at the bottom of the book case and take out and throw around all cards, paper and envelopes kept in those drawers ;) bas bacha yeah cheezey nikalti rehti  hai aur maa unhe waapas rakhti rehti hai J
Bacha also enjoys riding high on papa’s shoulders. Both of them also go out for walks at times especially maa is either busy in some other activity or too tired and wants to sleep.
I have a gut feel that papa is going to spoil bacha a lot and at the same time he is the only one who will be able to control her as well….
I am cherishing and loving the bond being developed between dad and daughter.

hi baby hello baby

Our darling bacha has learnt to recognize babies.  The only problem is that for her any bacha ranging from a day old to older ones in the range of 12-13 years are all babies. Moment she spots any child(I’ll use this as a generic term to define children’s in the age groups mentioned above) Devaangi starts points towards and calling out to that child as baby.  She continues to call out the child as baby and tries to touch that “BABY” all the while trying to be friendly with that child.
Not only this even when bacha sees her own photo or photo of any other child or sees the child on TV she immediately starts pointing towards that photo while saying baebeee( I have written baby the way it sounds when bacha pronounces baby)
I have Devaangi’s pics as screensaver on my cell phone and the moment bacha sees my cell phone she starts saying baebeee (even if the screen is off and her pic is not visible).

Mujhe upper jaana hai…. I want to climb high!!!

During the northern grid failure I was sitting out in the stairs along with the bacha when the bacha suddenly got out of my lap and started climbing the stairs. At first I was really apprehensive and tried to stop her from doing so as I was scared that bacha might hurt herself. But bacha was determined that she wanted to climb the stairs. By the way Devaangi appears to be very head strong right from this stage itself. Once she sets her mind on doing a thing she tries her best to do it.  So I soon realized that if bacha has set her mind to climb the stairs she will any ways try to do it so I let her try it out. I was however right behind the bacha to hold her in case she loses her balance. Par bacha being a determined child who does what she wants to do, bacha managed to climb the flight of stairs to reach the 2nd floor of the building. Imagine a 11  month old bacha climbing one complete floor (mind you DDA stairs are quite high).
Well bacha climbed the stairs again and this time maa made her do so J I know that was naughty of me to do it but nevertheless I tries it out. Other day I took Devaangi out for a stroll in her pram. When we came back I realized that I had forgotten to take my cell phone so I couldn’t call the maid to come down and take the pram upstairs. So I tried to act smart. I folded the pram and lifted it to take it upstairs on my own and put bacha down on the first stair. Guess what bacha climbed the complete flight of stairs to reach the landing area. This is where I left the pram and held bacha in my arms and took her in my arms to cover the  remaining stairs. You might say it was mean of me to do so but I actually wanted bacha to do this as part of her growing up activities!!!

Remote Control mere haath mein hai

Devaangi has realized early the importance of managing stuff using remote control. Jab poora country madam ke remote control pe chal sakta hai to hamara ghar kyon nahi Devaangi ke remote control pe chale?

Since bacha has always seen us using remotes for switching on AC and TV, moment she sees any remote lying idle she quickly grabs it and starts pointing it towards the TV or the AC as to trying to switch it on!! IIn fact just the other day, I switched on the tv and while the set top bo was coming up bacha not only picked up the remote and pointed it towards the tv but was also pressing buttons so as to turn on the tv J
In fact she is so much smitten with gadgets  that moment she realizes that AC has been turned on, she quickly moves towards it to check whether all it’s LEDs are lighted or not. This happens more at her sleeping time when she even leaves her feed on realizing that AC has been turned on and actually crawls towards it to confirm that it has been turned on. Once bacha is satisfied, she comes back to continue with her feed!!!
I have already mentioned about bacha’s fascination for telephone sets in the previous posts. Another thing that excites bacha is the red bulb that has been put outside badi daadi’s bathroom( to indicate whether it is in use or not just like you have red bulbs outside OTs). Moment that red bulb is turned on, bacha forgets about everything else and  starts pointing towards it while making noises. In addition if the red bulb is turned off and you are standing near the switch, bacha actually prompts you to lift her so that she can switch the red bulb on and off (yes she has learnt how to do this).
Same goes out for the doorbell.  One day I was standing outside the door and was knocking at the door as there was a power failure and bacha actually started calling out to me to draw my attention towards the bell as though telling me that I need to ring it in order to have the door opened.
By the way Devaangi does the same with my neighbor’s doorbell as well. In case Kamla aunty’s door is opened and she is standing there talking to us or to bacha, bacha bends forward from our arms and tries to reach aunty’s door bell.
Abhi se yeah haal hai to aage Im sure Davaangi will be ringing aunty’s and our doorbell throughout the day or maybe jab bhi mauka mile !!!!
